Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Surgery Trends

Non-Invasive Cosmetic Procedures, Atlanta Surgical Arts, Atlanta, GAA youthful, replenished look is a top concern for most people in today’s society, but time takes its toll and wrinkles and creases eventually set in. Fortunately, multiple forms of non-surgical, or minimally invasive, cosmetic trends have emerged and are becoming increasingly popular.

At the top of the list for minimally invasive procedures — according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons — are Botox® and dermal fillers. Used for smoothing wrinkles and enhancing the volume of the lip and cheek areas, these injectables are administered using a fine needle.

No anesthesia is needed for Botox® or dermal filler injections; they can be administered with virtually no pain. Although the effects are not permanent, the results can last anywhere from three months to a year, depending on the product chosen.

The best treatments for you are assessed based on your goals for facial rejuvenation. Dr. Huynh of Atlanta Surgical Arts can assist you in deciding which product is right for you and your desired outcome.

Correcting wrinkles around the mouth, smoothing forehead creases and treating crow’s feet are a few of the main goals of Botox® injections. Targeting one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet, the toxin is injected into areas of the face to temporarily minimize the muscle activity in that specified area.

The results of Botox® may begin to surface within 24 to 48 hours of treatment, and they typically last up to four months — requiring only a few treatments per year. However, Dr. Huynh may recommend more or less treatments for individual patients and varying circumstances.

One of the most well-known dermal fillers, Juvéderm®, is commonly used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and creases, such as “smiles lines” (a.k.a. nasolabial folds). The results of Juvéderm® have been found to last up to a year, providing fullness to the skin.

The hyaluronic acid is known for restoring elasticity to the skin which can in turn diminish the wrinkles and folds that are commonly found with age.

Part of the Juvéderm® family, Voluma™ is used to restore fullness and volume in the cheeks. Approved by the FDA in 2013, this injectable gel is specially formulated to treat the three areas of the cheek: apex, apple and hollow.

For mid-face volume augmentation, Voluma™ is a popular choice and frequently administered by Dr. Huynh at Atlanta Surgical Arts. The hyaluronic acid helps to fill out, or minimalize, wrinkles around the nose and cheek areas, restoring contour and providing an overall more youthful appearance.

If you want to target the lines and creases around your mouth and eyes, this injectable soft tissue filler is ideal. Approved in 2012 by the FDA, Belotero® is one of the newer dermal fillers on the market. With instantly visible results, that can last up to six months, the hyaluronic acid helps to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles on your face.

Adding volume and smoothing out the skin, Belotero® works to defy wrinkles and provide a youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
